Thank you so much for translating this. Anyway, I really wants to know why the new publish from Shueisha is lasted only in 6 volumes. I searched the infomation about this series and they said that the one pulished in 1996 by Youngyou is lasted for 10 volumes. Please please answer me if you know. I’m really curious!

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this great project : I like it very much !!!!
Ozzig2 : there are 10 volumes but in the “Bunko Model” You can have Two volumes : it’s “big volume” that’s all.

This is such a wonderful story and I’ve fallen so deeply in love with it! Sasaya Yuu is definitely my favorite protagonist of all time. So adorable! I literally PINE for updates - seriously - but you guys update so regularly and do such flawless work with this manga that I’m happy to wait. The standard of your translating and editing is marvelous, and you do us a great service by scanlating a manga that otherwise may never have been picked up. Love y’all. :)

THANKS SOOO MUCH!!
i love this manga - the characters, the slowly developing plot, the world of theatre, the art … it’s all great.

Comment by kejjie — March 14, 2009 @ 8:20 pm

OMG EXCITEMENT. Okay, so I’ve read this latest chapter and just HAVE to comment…

Does anyone else think that Kazuma is our guileless heroine’s new suitor? Or, you know, potential love interest? Because I’ve got a hunch that Kazuma will grow to like Yuu, and Yuu will like him back (only as an amazingly brilliant director, but still!) and Ichii will be brought out of his romantic complacency by realizing that Yuu could actually get stolen away (although Ichii’s such an ignoramus about these things that he may not even realize that this is why he’s upset!). I dunno. I think it might go that way? Not sure, but it would be interesting! Anything to get Ichii realizing that his no-romance policy may not actually be a good idea…

Anyone else with a similar hunch?

(Okay, sorry for spamming y’all. If this is too spoilery for a comment, modpeople, please to be deleting this!) <3

Comment by Simpleton — May 31, 2009 @ 9:06 pm

@ Simpleton:
heh, i never considered that sort of angle before, but after reading today’s chapter, it feels like a possibility.

yeah, Kazuma won’t will be a serious love rival (at least not in our eyes or Yuu’s), but he will be the one to bring Touya out of his ‘romantic complacency’… which is something we shall eagerly look forward to. (^____^)

thanks for the chapter, you crazy kids!

Comment by Manali — June 13, 2009 @ 11:55 am

Amazing people at Wingtip Cafe, here’s my heart in a little glass box, with enamel flowers carved onto its lid. It was valued for an UNSEEMLY amount of money at the Antiques Roadshow, but I’m giving it to you for free! <3

Comment by Simpleton — July 9, 2009 @ 9:42 pm

Comment by (The Ever Persistent) Simpleton — August 7, 2009 @ 10:59 pm

Did you say a chapter a WEEK? And all the chapters until the end of this volume are already marked as “Done”!

:O

Obviously, you guys really ARE gods. Allow me to build you a marble altar strewn with wild roses, that I will then bathe in scented oil and the joyous tears of glittering unicorns. <3

Comment by Simpleton — August 22, 2009 @ 2:04 pm

Wow, I started reading it just because I was bored, since the summary didn’t mention any romance… But after I begun it, I couldn’t stop reading all the 30 chapters right away! Such an unexpected good series, it’s one of my favorites now! Thank you very much!!!

Comment by alpiena — September 25, 2009 @ 4:38 pm

… Okay, so I just had to return after reading the latest release, to say - Kabuki-boy is so, SO adorable! The way he’s all shy like a shrinking violet, and yet (I bet) is a merciless perfectionist when it comes to his work! I mean, the way he performed that spin so perfectly and then just - shrank demurely back into his corner. Aww. Just… CUTE. <3333333333

I love that Ichii is quietly (but very obviously) jealous of every man that approaches Yuu, even though his professionalism is preventing him from making a fool out of himself - at least so far. Ha! Remember how he made a fool out of himself when Yuu met up with Kazuma for coffee? Lol! I bet he won’t want to repeat THAT again - but how long can he keep himself in check? I’m going to have loads of sadistic fun watching him squirm, as Sasaya Yuu becomes increasingly hot property. ;)

I also find it remarkable - WONDERFUL, even - that Yuu hasn’t gone all shoujo-ish and sparkly-eyed just because of one kiss from her unrequited crush. I mean, obviously it ISN’T unrequited, but I wonder… She thinks it is, doesn’t she? Is this the reason she ISN’T reacting, or isn’t taking Ichii’s kiss as an expression of interest? It was just a “power up” session, and… Well, even if it DID mean Ichii was interested in her, he’d made that very flat comment about definitely not wanting to be in a relationship because acting came first. So Yuu probably thought nothing of the kiss beyond the actual incident itself… I find this reaction far more realistic and sweet than the OMGOMGOMGHEKISSEDME freak-out that so many shoujo/josei heroines have. Yuu’s a level-headed and determined young director, and her love for Ichii is something soft and sweet and consistent and REAL, not the wild roller-coaster we often read about in romantic mangas.

Part of the reason Ichii isn’t flipping out as jealously as he might otherwise be doing is, I think, because he knows at some level how consistent Yuu’s feelings for him are (she’s so pure-hearted!), and also that she has similar work-first priorities. Of course, he’s going to be made increasingly aware that unless he also makes YUU one of his top priorities (well, she already IS, but just not “officially”), then he’ll have to tolerate seeing many more guys approach her and be perfectly justified in attempting to woo her. Even knowing that she’ll probably rebuff his competitors’ affections, it isn’t something that’s easy for a bloke to just stand by and watch.

So - make a move, Ichii! You know you want to! Heck, WE want you to! (Just in a believable, in-character and gradually-developed way. Yeah. :D)

Something tells me that Fujinosuke (a.k.a. Kabuki-boy) is going to be interested in the leading role in Yuu’s new play that she’s reserved for Ichii. I mean, Fujinosuke’s interested in her stories, right? Wouldn’t it be GREAT if aside from personal, romantic envy, Ichii ALSO had to deal with professional envy? (Someone stealing away his director?) Imagine if Fujinosuke and Ichii had to compete for the role! THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME TO WATCH! Even just from an acting standpoint! *drools*

… Or, well, cute Kabuki-boy could land another one of Yuu’s roles. I certainly hope he’ll be working with her in the future, anyway; he looks really skilled and his talent could help bolster her career. I could bet MONEY on the fact that he’ll work with her, but what I’d really like to see is an Ichii-Fujinosuke rivalry across several levels - professional, personal, romantic, etc.

I bet that Fujinosuke’s very charming (and also VERY ADORABLE) Granddaddy is going to do everything in his power to set his grandson up with Yuu. He’s so thrilled that the poor boy’s even looking at someone else, right? Full-scale Kabuki-themed family-driven wooing ahoy!

Does anyone else think so? :D :D :D

Sorry for rambling! I just wanted to give my two cents. :) Gosh, I love this manga so much!

Wow, what a cliffhanger! Why is it always kabuki though, I wonder. Is it because Noh is much harder and different?

Hello, Wingtip Cafe~!

Thank you for giving us fans, such an AMAZING manga of Ashita no Ousama!! :D
Dear, it’s indeed mind-blowing, much better than my favorite F1 cars speeding crazily!

After reading it for the first time yesterday, I gradually fell head over heels with this fascinating world of theater that my dear endearing character, Sasaya Yuu lived in. So right soon, I’ll be reading Unit 30. Oh, so thrilled to see what next come along so unexpectedly!

I literally feel like watching some different stage plays that’s had captivated my heart totally with intense curiosity. Those are deeply intriguing, holding me so powerfully spellbound!
So I hope to see refreshing plays one of these days when I truly have 100% free time to go there!

Lastly, I do hope to see one of my most favorite couples, Ichii Touya & Sasaya Yuu be finally together in the dramatic ending! I hope earnestly for them to be with each other in everlasting happiness! Truly, they are perfectly made for each other~! They strongly keep on encouraging each other to do continually better than their previous works. More beautifully, their friendship is very strong and solid that’ll help to smoothen the awkward transition of becoming a most romantic and passionate couple.
It’s kinda very exciting and nice to see them growing old gracefully, while they’re reminiscing of how they first met.

Thank YOU! for making it POSSIBLE for us to read such a BEAUTIFUL charming story!

Comment by Simpleton — November 27, 2009 @ 10:24 pm

Glad you enjoyed the Macbeth reference note, Simpleton. We weren’t sure but it seemed worth mentioning.

I definitely went back and started reading Ashita thinking “WHAT ELSE HAVE I MISSED!?!” ^^

Comment by Kilimonian — November 28, 2009 @ 1:16 pm

@Kilimonian, I know what you mean - lol, now I’m filled with this half-fantastic, half-terrifying suspense that there are all these super-sekrit references buried in the manga THAT I JUST NEVER NOTICED! It’s like the Da Vinci Code! But for theater! :O :O :O

I DO NOT WANT THIS VOLUME TO END. ;_;

But at the same time, I can’t wait to see HOW it ends… Oh, what a conundrum!

Thank you for bringing this lovely manga to us, as always. <3

Comment by Simpleton — December 4, 2009 @ 10:57 pm

Sasaya Yuu is such a endearing demon that keeps on driving Ichii Touya crazily with resolute determination. Poor him, having to do all sorts of requests in acting with precision. I so love them affectionately; they are so special for each other that they should be together until the end of time. :)

Merry X’mas & HAPPY NEW YEAR~~!!!

Comment by La Jazz — December 26, 2009 @ 12:54 pm

Soo many memorable events … so funny … what Funjinosuke said after he completed the character … and so correct … because Touya kissing his director … wouw … absolutely great .. Thank you so much for all your wonderful effort in this scanlation ..

Comment by Duanne — January 5, 2010 @ 5:36 pm

Interesting … looks like releases are being paced to finish on Valentine’s Day.
Well then, I know what I am doing that day!
I read about half of it then decided I would read the second half all at once. Thus, I’ve been waiting and each time thinking “How many more chapters? When do I read this from start to end?”

Comment by Mierten — January 29, 2010 @ 10:14 pm

It’s coming to an end…I suddenly feeling so sad :p Thanks for all the hard works guys. Can’t wait to see what you have in store next :)

NOOOO, IT’S OVERRRRRR!

(YES, finally a series that actually ends at the right time!)

Gah, I can’t make up my mind whether to be thrilled or heartbroken - maybe I’ll be both? :)

Thank you SO MUCH for finishing this fabulous project; it is, in my opinion, in the top 5 of my favorite manga series OF ALL TIME. You’ve really made a huge difference in this manga fan’s life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

…Wow, 6 volumes. That’s a lot of work!

Wingtip Cafe is obviously populated by gods and goddesses.

Comment by Simpleton — February 12, 2010 @ 8:21 pm

Soooo sad this series is over - it’s so well-written, even if the style and fashion are slightly outdated now. Seriously one of the best shoujo/josei manga I’ve read in a while, and even better for its more feminist undertone!

Thanks so much for the hard work - you guys are awesome!!

Comment by Annie — February 12, 2010 @ 8:26 pm

It’s finished now! I feel somewhat like crying. I’ve been sticking to this series for so long that even now, I can’t really accept that it’s over. Thank you, thank you for finishing it!

Thank YOU, Wingtip team for giving us all such an amazing manga of meaningful depth. Even if it’s of old style, it literally captivates my curious heart! I genuinely enjoyed reading this exquisite story.

Also, thank you for wishing us all, “Happy CNY & Valentine’s Day!” so personally with heartfelt sincerity! *hugs*
It truly does make my day delightfully GREAT~!!

Hey, all you Chinese & Eurasian fans of Chinese descendants, let’s look forward to celebrating the joys of reunion dinner & receiving RED hongbaos with happiness~! ;)

I just found this series two days ago, and just just finished the volumes right now…

Ashita no Ousama is fantastic! Thank you so very much for translating this! Sasaya is absolutely one of my favorite protagonists ever, and I love seeing her friendships with Maki and Ohara. The romance was sweet, as well; it was great seeing one where everyone had their foibles and fears, but also generally had their heads on straight.

Thank you thank you!

Comment by j. — June 12, 2011 @ 8:02 am

I read Ashita no Ousama as you guys scanlated it, and I just got the craving to read it again! Such a beautiful manga. So thanks so much for the hard work! I’ve really enjoyed a number of the other manga you’ve worked on (especially Oishii Kankei and Fukuyadou Honpo… and now I’m reading Real Clothes too) as well, so I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work! Checking wingtipcafe has become a great part of my Friday routine — I always enjoy seeing what you’ve put out! Keep up the good work!
